Celebrating our 50th anniversary
November 15th, 2022Over a hundred staff and residents from Christopher Grange Care Home joined together to celebrate the home’s 50th anniversary.
A special service was held in the chapel to mark the occasion. Sister Evelyn Warnock, who has lived at Christopher Grange for a number of years and coordinates the pastoral team of sisters, lead the service and distributed communion to all who wished to receive it.
Two of the home’s first residents, who still live at Christopher Grange – Ann Mulford and Jacqueline Taylor – attended the event and Ann gave a speech.
After the service, everyone was invited to a lovely buffet prepared by the home’s resident chef. There was also entertainment from well-loved local singer Mal, who has performed at the home before and is coming back for next month’s Christmas party.
The room was decorated with pictures of the home from over the years and information on its history, while all the residents’ units were festooned with balloons and banners.
Care Home Manager Julie Magee said: “It was such a lovely day. We were delighted at the number of residents, some in their chair beds, who came along to take part in our milestone anniversary.
“There was a real love for the Grange and for our hard-working and dedicated staff who provide our residents with the highest standards of care.
“We are proud of the difference that Christopher Grange has made to residents over many decades.”
Residents Co-ordinator Jane Everard said: “I’ve worked at Christopher Grange for 26 years and celebrating the home’s 50th anniversary was a really beautiful event.
“Lots of hard work went into making sure that this was a very special day for everyone. I loved watching staff and residents dancing to some great hits sung by Mal. Even our wheelchair-bound residents were clapping and waving their arms in the air in time to the music.”
Staffing Co-ordinator Allison Wooley said: “Everyone who visits the home comments on its lovely atmosphere and how calm it feels. I’m proud to be working in a home where everyone supports each other to make it such a special place for our residents to live.”
Long-time resident Ann Mulford said: “I want to thank everyone for making this such a special day.”
