Christmas Activities 2017

January 22nd, 2018

Our activities during December started with us decorating our Christmas Tree with our Residents which included their very own decorations which we had previously made on our Christmas Craft Day in November.  Our Residents then enjoyed a sherry and a mince pie whilst have a sing-along.

In keeping with the Christmas spirit we also varied some of our usual favourites and enjoyed Christmas quizzes and crosswords, Christmas bingo, pass the parcel, Christmas reminiscence and Christmas name that tune!  All our activities had refreshments for the Resident’s to enjoy and there were lots of prizes to win!

We had a couple of trips out in December which included Christmas shopping, a trip to St Thomas in Crosby for songs that we remember, to the Metropolitan Cathedral for a Christmas Carol Service and Nativity play as well as enjoying our lunch.

We held a couple of Christmas craft afternoons this month which included creating our own Christmas Cards, Pomanders and Decorations and we also perfected our culinary skills by baking mince pies – we held a competition on Christmas Eve with Residents from Andrew House our overall winner this year!

During December we had lots of singing and dancing as we had lots of entertainment which included:  St Vincent’s School Choir, Broughton Hall Choir, ‘Mood Swing’s and Alder Hey Choir all came and sang for our Residents.  We also had the grand performance of our very own Christopher Grange Choir!  We would like to say a big thank you to all for donating their time to come and celebrate the festive period with us here at Christopher Grange.

Our annual Residents Christmas Party held in the Rehabilitation Centre was a big success this year.  Our Residents were welcomed with drinks before enjoying a three course meal and our Residents enjoyed the entertainment from ‘Dicky Tickers’.  The party was a successful occasion and all Residents thoroughly enjoyed their evening.

We ended the festive celebrations by enjoying various film afternoons which included films like ‘Scrooge’ on Boxing Day.

Activities – November 2017

December 22nd, 2017

During November we held our usual activities as well as getting ready for the festive period.  We had some entertainment from Squeezy Steven , celebrated Caroline’s birthday with a party and as usual our monthly social had a good attendance with numbers continuing to increase.

We also had a day out to Taskers which we all enjoyed, this gave us the chance to see their famous Christmas decorations!  We also went out and did some Christmas shopping!

Our Christmas choir is up and running and they have been sharpening their voices ready for the big performance next month as part of our Christmas activities!  As part of our preparations for Christmas we also made some Christmas Cards and Christmas Tree decorations to go on our Christmas Trees around the building!

We bought a new activity pack which has given us some new quizzes to enjoy, this has included: finishing the lines from old sayings, songs, nursery rhymes and adverts – these have been proving very popular.
