Activities – June 2018

July 22nd, 2018

This month we had t he return of a couple of our Residents favourite choirs – Alder Hey choir and the Pastoral Ladies choir.  As usual these where are big success and thoroughly enjoyed by all those who attended.

Students from St Edwards are still coming in to spend time with out Residents and this month have been playing bingo and charades and some students have even been playing the piano for our Residents.

In honour of Alzheimer’s day we had a cup cake day and we raffled a LARGE cup cake with all the proceeds to go to the Alzheimer’s Society to help them with the wonderful work they do.

As the World Cup started in June we decorated the Market Place with bunting and we had our own sweep on the go, this seemed popular with our Residents – especially our male Residents!

As usual we have continued our trips and this month we went to Sefton Park (whilst this wonderful weather continues) and went to the Café at St Vincent’s School for our lunch!  We continue with our everyday activities which our Residents enjoy which includes book club, knitting club, bingo, quizzes and arm chair exercise.

Activities – May 2018

This month, along with the rest of the world, we celebrated the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan.  Firstly, we held craft days to decorate our own table clothes for our afternoon tea which included an assortment of fingers sandwiches and cakes and we all then toasted to the happy couple with a glass of bucks fizz.

One of our Resident’s Joyce is an ex Matron from Alder Hey Hospital, who invited Joyce to a nurse day at Alder Hey which Joyce thoroughly enjoyed!  Joyce was then invited to the 70th anniversary of the NHS in July with other Residents who have worked within the NHS.

We now have students from St Edwards school coming in once a week to spend time, chat, play the piano, sing and play games with our Residents.  We also had some entertainment this month from a female artist who sang from musicals, country music and war songs, this was thoroughly enjoyed by all Residents who attended.

All our day to day activities are still going well, our trips out this month have included a shopping trip, trips to the local garden centres and Sefton Park.  We have recently introduced a book place in the Market Place for those who wish to leave or exchange books for our Residents to enjoy.

Thank you!

I just wanted to say a big massive thank you to all who sponsored and supported me.  I managed to raise a whopping £320.00 with my sponsored haircut!

Out of all your generosity I put together 10 keepsake baskets for Parents whose babies are born sleeping and also I gave a cash donation to Whiston Maternity and Special Care Unit of £170.00.

Once again thank you for your kindness.
