We also had entertainment on Bank Holiday Monday which was our firm favourite ‘Mood Swings’. Blending a mixture of well known songs for our residents. A good turn out from all units on these days and families also came along.

On the 21st of August we held our own beach day. We had an ice cream van come to the front of the building which residents could all go to for the choice of a Mr Whippy ice cream or an ice lolly. This was enjoyed by residents and staff. The residents then joined us in the market place, which was decorated with a beach theme including knotted handkerchiefs, sunglasses, a sand pit, and buckets and spades. We also had games which residents and their families could join in, and a sing-a-long.

30 Years Service

August 1st, 2019

Yesterday, we celebrated one of our staff members having worked here for 30 years.

We had a get together with staff across the Catholic Blind Institute, Christopher Grange, and St Vincent’s so we could come together and celebrate Bev’s commitment to the organisation and all she’s done for us over her 30 years here.

From all at Christopher Grange, Catholic Blind Institute and St Vincent’s: thank you, Bev!

Activities – July 2019

August 1st, 2019

This month, we started off by having a farewell party to Sr Fran, who had been with us over 30 years. A party was held for residents to say their goodbyes to Sr Fran and to wish her well in the future.

Our residents also had a lovely visit from St Vincent’s nursery, during which the young toddlers interacted with our residents who all appeared to enjoy it. This will now be ongoing with the nursery visiting us again in the future.

Our everyday activities are still up and running. This month, we added ‘Name that Tune’, Reminiscence, Poetry and an array of games. Weather permitting, we still have our morning walks on Rhona, with their one-to-ones still going well too.

We also have our Anglican service once a month for our residents who want to attend.

Our social night with fish and chips still continues. Those residents who came along appeared to enjoy their evening, and our resident Roy even played some tunes on his mouth organ!
