November 12th, 2016

During October 2016 our activities continued to thrive with an increase in the number of Residents who attended our ‘Fish and Chip Supper’ at our monthly social which was followed by a pub quiz – this was enjoyed by all!

We continued to celebrate our Resident’s birthday’s and this month we celebrated Jackie and Sid’s birthdays with their friends and families on their respective units.knitting club

Armchair exercise has now become a firm favourite with our Resident’s in our activities calendar and our Knitting Club is also proving popular – especially with Gerard and Sid! All Resident’s are welcome to attend and those who don’t enjoy knitting are still coming for a chat and a cup of tea.

This month ‘art’ has become more popular with a visit to our Rehabilitation Centre to admire their paintings and explore their art room.

Our Resident’s are still continuing to enjoy our day to day activities and our new Resident’s are coming along and allows them to develop relationships with other Resident’s from other units.

During October we also celebrated Halloween on the Market Place with Resident’s and their families with our take on ‘apple bobbing’ – using doughnuts and dangling them using string.  Congratulations to Gerard who was our overall winner in this game!

During September our activities went well!  We have had a race day, name that tune, play your cards right and our Residents favourite Bingo, with prizes galore!

Dance

We have also had the privilege of welcoming Martins Dance School to Christopher Grange to come and dance for our Residents and we are already looking forward to arrange another date for the dance troop to come in again.

We also took some of our Residents out for a look around the shops and for lunch which was enjoyed by everyone!

We also took part in a Coffee Morning in aid of Marie Curie which raised a massive £126!  We would like to thank everyone who donated and who took part in the event.

Teresa 100th BdayActivities in August have been ongoing and this month, instead of entertainment, we opted for ‘Mersey Memories’, which proved a big hit with our Residents.  We had lots of old photographs of Liverpool on a big screen which the Residents could relate to; these photographs comprised of old picture houses, shops, dance halls, pubs and Albert Dock (old and new).

100th Bday pianoThis month we also had a very special birthday with one of our Residents Theresa celebrating her 100th Birthday.  We gathered in the Market Place to celebrate with her Family and Residents.  We had Daniella come and play the piano beautifully for everyone which had been requested by Theresa.  It was a lovely day had by all!

We have recently started a Gentleman’s Club which is going very well.  We have our Residents (gentlemen) getting to know each other by telling us where they lived and worked and talking about their family life and hobbies.  We have now introduced dominoes, cards and darts (velcro darts and board!).

Our day to day activities have continued throughout the month, were we have not introduced scrabble, as well has a pub lunch out after a trip to New Brighton looking at the changes that have happened over the years.
