Activities – October 2017

November 22nd, 2017

This month we held a fundraising day for the Alzheimer’s Society and for End of Life, with half of the proceeds going to your own nursing unit Rhona House who provide ‘end of life’ care.  We held this on the Market Place with our Residents and our families and we had tombola, raffles, tea/coffee and of course some cakes!  Thank you to everyone who attended and donated and helped make a special day.

During the month we had some entertainment in the Market Place for our Residents (which is always a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for all those who attend).  This time we had ‘Squeezy Stephen’, this was a great afternoon and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with some singing and some dancing!

We have introduced a Choir with our Residents for Christmas with Residents form all units joining in and Jan playing the guitar – we are all looking forward to playing some Christmas Carols.

Our usual activities this month have included celebrating our Residents birthdays, Jackie and Sid both celebrated on their individual units with some cake!  We had a trip out to Dobbies and Taskers and we enjoyed some lunch with our Residents.  We have also enjoyed a baking day and our usual Residents Monthly Social which this month fell on Halloween so we enjoyed a variety of games including donuts on a string!  We have also introduced our new activity pack which consists of yoga and ‘finishing phrases’ quizzes which are both proving popular.

Once again we are approaching our special time of remembering those we love.  As you begin to think about Christmas, we would like to invite you to begin your preparation here in Christopher Grange by coming and sharing some time with us, a special moment—of silence, reflection and prayer.

You might like to have a dedicated candle lit  and a  light shining on our Christmas tree, reminding you of the light still shining in your heart.

You may wish to make a donation to sponsor a light.  Please fill in the form below if you do, and return it to us.  Please do not feel obliged to make a  donation—this time is a time for you to remember and give thanks.

Coffee Morning

October 6th, 2017

During September 2017 we held a Coffee Morning in Christopher Grange in aid of Marie Curie where those who attended enjoyed a nice cup of tea/coffee and a piece of cake.  We had also decorated the Market Place using bunting that our Residents had made especially for the event during a craft day earlier in the month.

We are delighted to announce that we raised a total of £192.00.  The money raised will help Marie Curie Nurses care for more people living with a terminal illness around the United Kingdom.

We would like to thank everyone who was involved, those who donated and a big thank you to Sue and Ann who facilitated the event.
